How do I get health insurance while I'm at Seattle University?

Answer

International students are required to have insurance and will be automatically enrolled in SU's student health insurance plan through Aetna unless you provide proof of comparable coverage. More information on international student insurance can be found here.

Beginning in Fall 2022, Seattle University will no longer offer a school-sponsored health insurance plan for domestic students, and domestic undergraduate students are no longer required to provide proof of insurance. More information about that change can be found here. Losing coverage is a "life event" that qualifies students for a special enrollment for other insurance plans outside of the open enrollment period.

If you are a Washington resident, free or low-cost Apple Health is available year-round and a Special Enrollment is available if you have certain life changes. If you do not qualify for free or low-cost Apple Health, you may still qualify for a Special Enrollment if you have a qualifying life change. Call 1-855-923-4633 or visit their webpage to learn more. You can also explore other insurance plans through the Washington ACA Marketplace.
