How do I cite information that is only available on the Internet Archive?

The government website or dataset I need to cite is no longer available, but I was able to find an archived version - how do I cite that in APA?

Answer

Before a lot of government websites were taken down in January/February 2025 were taken down they were archived by non-profits like the Internet Archive, and the End of Term Archive. If you want to cite resources archived here in APA format, you cite the source as usual (author, date, title) but include the archived URL in place of the now-defunct government website URL.
