How do I find a scholarly article?

Answer

Scholarly articles can be found by searching our library catalog here, or through one of our in subject-specific databases that include journal articles, conference proceedings, and related material published in related disciplines.

For example, scholarly articles in biology can be found in a database called Web of Science, and health science literature is available through PubMed. You can also search for scholarly articles in our library catalog by selecting "Peer reviewed" on the left toolbar. If you discover an article that SU does not have access to in a full-text version, try requesting it via Interlibrary Loan. This page also gives you more information about submitting an interlibrary loan request.

To view lists of databases by subject, check out our research guides here, which you can search alphabetically.

If you want help from a librarian to get your research started, email askalibrarian@seattleu.edu and set up a research consultation.
