Why can't I access databases?

Are you getting an SSL error?

Answer

There may be a number of reasons why you may have issues accessing databases.

1. Database access is limited to SU affiliated patrons only, and is not accessible from the public access terminals or remotely without a valid SU login.

2. Are you logged into our library catalog? Most databases are restricted to current SU-affiliated patrons, and require authentication in order to view. If you are having general SU login issues, please contact the ITS helpdesk at servicedesk@seattleu.edu.

3. Some users have reported that for some Comcast Xfinity home internet customers, a browser security error prevents them from accessing our proxied resources. If you are Xfinity customer running into this problem, we have a fix. Unfortunately it involves turning off a security feature.

If you are getting this error, it will look something like this (below), and you should try this fix.
